What You Need To Know About Pool Inspections
Pools on the Gold Coast, QLD, need to follow a set of compliance and safety standards. This is to guarantee that they are operated and maintained to reduce risks such as drowning.
Pool Safety Inspections: The Basics
We all dream about owning a pool at home. However, this comes with great responsibility to ensure the safety of all who live in or visit the home. The best way to ensure that your pool complies to the prescribed safety regulations is to get your pool inspected by a qualified pool safety inspector.
What They Do
Pool inspections involve inspecting an already-built pool to make sure it is compliant with safety standards in Queensland. The pool safety inspector will look at things such as the height of the pool fence, gate regulations, signage, nearby structures such as windows, doors, dividing fences, balconies or anything else climbable that could give access to the pool. Every inspection needs to complete a comprehensive and thorough check and report on any non-conformity issues your pool may have in order to receive a compliance certificate.
If the pool is compliant, you will receive a Pool Safety Certificate issued by the pool safety inspector on behalf of the QBCC. However, if it doesn’t comply, the pool safety inspector will issue you with a Non-Conformity Report which will advise you on what you need to do in order to get the certification. There are often minor issues that can easily be attended to, although more extensive work may be needed. Without having this inspection, you are allowing the possibility for pool safety issues to result in injury or drowning. Once you have complied with the recommendations in the Non-Conformity Report, the inspector will reinspect and if all is compliant, they will issue you with a Pool Safety Certificate.
Pool inspections are a must, not only for safety reasons, but also because you can incur large fines if your pool is not compliant.
